Fashion smart - distinguishing your quality jewelry

Distinguishing plastics & acrylics from glass, ceramics, and quality stones.
1. Weight- You can distinguish quality beads by the weight of the product. Glass, ceramics, and natural stones weigh more than plastics and acrylic.
2. Sound- Glass, Ceramics, stones, etc. I classify as quality materials in comparison to plastic and acrylic beads.  They have a destinctive sound when you tap it with a fingernail, key, etc. compared to plastics and acrylics.
3. Visual- Plastics and acrylics normally have a line of demarcation from the molding and is not smooth all the way around in comparison to glass and ceramic beads. May also have a sort of white discoloration on one end where the bead was separated from other beads in creation process.
Common Errors found with Defective Beads
1. No hole, multiple holes, or hole placement off.
2. Paint errors whether dip dyed or painted by hand, etc.
3. Distorted beads that are not correctly shaped. Example round bead actually oval.
4. Chipped beads
5. Variations in hole sizes * You will never find a perfect strand and natural stones are like feathers, no two will be exactly the same. Understand that with painted plastics eventually the entire coating willchip away and reveal the plastic so it is better to invest in jade or onyx, etc. The better quality material you use to create your jewelry, the longer the wear.
Distinguishing Metals Precious metals include silver gold and platinum -resist corrosion and non-reactive- must be solid and not plated to be fine jewelry; And includes titanium and tonxton (below precious). Costume jewelry combines base metal, gold and silver plated, combined with precious plated together with electrical current and electrolyte solution. Uses polished brass. Understand that when buying or creating custom jewelry, fine jewelry metals cost and the cost is incurred with the creation of the piece. Whether fine or costume, all metals turn. Accessory: Fashion Do's & Don'ts

The Fashionistas call it making a statement or "Statement Jewelry," while I call it adding a touch of "you" to your clothing. Many do not realize it, but like your dress, your jewelry can say alot about you and who you are. Though the fashion world has "Laws" and "regulations" about what should go with what, I feel that as long as you keep these Fashion Do's and Don'ts in mind, you can have a blast with accessorizing and adding you into your display. DO 1: Color can excite any outfit. Color to any outfit though seemingly clashing can awaken or add a dramatic element. DO 2: Mix and match color pieces (layering)- black with hotpink and white, for example can tie in colors, and create a combination or look to your outfit. DO 3: Take into consideration your outfit in jewelry selection. Elegant diamond glitzy earrings with a wifebeater, shorts, and flip flops is a no. DO 4: Wear the right necklace length with the right neckline *Collar necklaces with V-neck, boat neck, off the shoulder tops *Chokers with strapless or plunging necklines, (princess go with practically anything) *Opera or long chains good to wear with turtlenecks and high neckline ^:Don't get too carried away over accessorizing. Combining too many colors, Too many BOLD pieces, or the jewelry not going with the necklines of the clothing it is accenting can make the jewelry selection look too busy and sloppy. A bold necklace must be worn with a less dramatic pair of earrings, however a bold bracelet or ring can be worn to separate the focal points and pull the look together. ^:Just as you can overdo your jewelry, You can underdo your jewelry selection and appear as a plain jane. *Do not be afraid to accessorize ^:Dont let trends dictate your style. If anything create a trend. ^:When wearing big bold jewelry, dont wear prints. they dont get along like plaid and polka dots. Jewelry, like your clothing, speaks who you are and reflects your personality and style. Buy jewelry that speaks to you, that you like, and that you will feel comfortable wearing.
